Portsoy Attendance Confirmed

Representatives of Shetland Boat Week will attend the 2016 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in Portsoy on 25th and 26th June.

The trip has been possible thanks to Serco NorthLink Ferries, and Promote Shetland who will cover travel and accommodation costs.

The Shetland Boat Week stand will show off the strong tradition of boat building and our close links with the sea, as well as promoting the first year of our own Boat Festival, and encourage visitors to come to the islands and take part.

Local Boatbuilder, Ian Best, will be in attendance along with the Fair Isle Yoal, 'Zeal' which he built for Shetland Museum and Archives several years ago.

Shetland Boat Week organiser, Emma Miller, said "This is an excellent opportunity for us to promote our event at this well established Boat Festival, with an engaged and enthusiastic audeince. It will be good to see how the Portsoy event has acheived such success, and hopefully develop links with folk to take part in Shetland in future years."
