More and more, writers and journalists are now using their smartphones as an electronic news gathering device as magazines and newspapers increasingly expect reporters to add multimedia content to their story, and as many publications work either solely online or with unique online content.
But, for writers the challenge is both technical and practical - and the smartphone provides the answer!
The workshop:
This one-day course will teach you how to record audio and how to shoot video using your smartphone (apple), and will introduce you to the latest apps for streaming and social media.
The course is a treasure trove of new approaches, new apps, tips, techniques and insights into how to really get your smartphone working for you as a writer and journalist.
This event is highly relevant to both freelancers and paid staff - to those wanting to use multimedia in their work at professional and local community level.
Bill Shepherd is leading this event - Bill is a production editor at The Guardian and The Observer newspapers. He is a member of the National Union of Journalists and a member of the Guild of Television Cameramen.
Participants must have their own smartphone (Apple) for use on the day - we will e-mail you a list of apps to download prior to the course.
