A Life with Cameras: A Talk with Photographer Chris G Smith

Thursday, April 24th 2025 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Shetland Museum and Archives

Photography can be a unique way to connect to the world around you while at the same time, disconnecting from modern day pressures experienced in life. For photography tutor Chris G Smith, his love for cameras and the process of capturing the world on analogue has enabled him to find calm in times of chaos.

Chris will take you on a journey through his passion for collecting analogue cameras, using a chronology of camera advancement as a guide, before delving deeper into his personal connection with analogue processes and the ways in which this has impacted on his life.

There will also be the opportunity to view Islesburgh Photographic Club’s exhibition, titled Seen Furt, in Da Gadderie after the talk. If you’ve ever considered exploring vintage photography as a hobby, this evening is for you!

Tickets £5
