‘Light and Shade’ by Anne Bain and Mike Finnie
Tuesday, May 24th 2016 - Saturday, June 25th 2016
Foyer Corridor
Anne and Mike have sketched, painted and exhibited together for over 20 years, with the ever changing light, colour and textures of the landscape in Shetland the continuing inspiration for their work.
Both share a passion for old settlements, ‘toonships’, which appear to grow from the landscape and seem so right in their setting.
Anne’s work is often about the combination of a retained memory and the ‘essence’ of place and time, rather than necessarily an accurate representation of the landscape.
Mike’s enduring passion for sketching and painting old settlements throughout Shetland has become a record of a heritage which is fast becoming lost.
The exhibition runs in the Foyer corridor until 25th June and works are availble to buy and take away.
