New focus display: Shetland Fiddlers' Society formalised after 1960 Hamefarin' performance. Come and see the Collection and various memorabilia throughout the years.
The saga begins in 1960, when “Massed Fiddlers Fae aa’ Ower” were the opening act in the Garrison Theatre during the first organised Hamefarin of emigrant Shetland exiles, returning home from many parts of the globe.
The group assembled by Tom Anderson had rehearsed diligently over the winter, and made a huge impression on visitors and Shetlanders alike – shortly after the official Shetland Fiddlers’ Society group was formed.
