Foyer
Since the first Shetland Museum opened 50 years ago, there have been many donations and aquisitions of artefacts, culminating in an extensive collection that, despite the extended space in the new building, cannot all be displayed at once.
The 50th anniversary is the perfect time to select one item from every year to display as a mark of the anniversary. Cases in the main and upper foyer will reflect the diverse range of items that have been recieved over the years.
With the Archives celebrating 40 years of service, the Archive case on the mezzanine floor will include a display of some of the more elaborate papers held in the collection. Do you know how far the boxes of papers would stretch if laid end to end? Have a look at the exhibition to find out.
