Shetland Museum and Archives, and the surrounding outdoor dock area is a popular choice for wedding ceremonies.
Many couples choose the Boat Hall as the venue for their ceremony. With its four story height and full length windows bringing the outdoors inside, the acoustics and atmosphere in the space are perfect.
The historic Sixareen boat can either be moved to the side as a focal point for photographs, or can be moved out of the space to allow room for up to 120 seated guests. Following a romantic ceremony in the Boat Hall, guests can relax with a drink in the Auditorium or Foyer areas while the happy couple and their photographer use the Galleries or Dock area to capture the happy day.
The Auditorium is an ideal space for an evening reception, it can accommodate up to 140 people, with bar space available in the Learning Room or Foyer area. The Foyer can also be used as an additional social space for couples who wish to invite larger numbers to the evening reception.
The Auditorium can be transformed into a romantic setting for the event, with plenty of space for a band or DJ and dancing.
