We are proud of our accessibility provision at Shetland Museum and Archives, and we want to make sure we continue to offer an excellent experience for all visitors with additional needs. Wheelchair Users
Our main entrance is fully accessible with a ramp and large automatic door suitable for Wheel Chairs. We have implemented a one way sytem in the building meaning that we are using a separate exit which is not wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair users will us the main entrance door and ramp to exit and should ask staff for assistance to ensure social distancing can be maintained.
We have a limited supply of wheelchairs available to borrow at the main entrance. These chairs are fully cleaned after each user. We have accessible toilets on the ground and first floor. We also have lift access between floors. Lift access is current only available on request.
Accessibility and Face Coverings
Staff will be wearing transparent face coverings to ensure those customers who lip read can see their faces. We recognise that some people are unable to wear face coverings. You can apply for an exemption card, however, these are no compulsory. Those exempt are shown in the image below.
