Archives Searchroom Procedures

The Archives Searchroom has hygiene measures in place.

Hygiene Measures

Face Coverings

Face coverings are advised to be worn at all times in the Archives by staff and visitors.

Cleaning

The Archives Searchroom will be deep cleaned before opening and cleaned on a daily basis. Additional cleaning of key touch points, tables, keyboards etc. will take place throughout the day.

Hand Washing

All staff and visitors to the Searchroom must wash their hands before entering. Please do not use hand sanitisor as this may impact on the documents you handle.

Quarantining of Documents and Books

Documents and books consulted and browsed will be quarantined for 72 hours after use. (This is in line with practice in Scottish libraries and Archives).

Bring your own equipment

From now on the Archives will not provide pencils for use in the searchroom. Readers must bring and take away their own.

Similarly, visitors who want to listen to audio material should bring and take away their own earphones.
