Shetland Museum and Archives staff gathered yesterday, along with support staff from Shetland Amenity Trust, Trustees and the SIC Convener for an official occasion to mark the 40th year of Archives and 50th year of Museum services in Shetland.

The good turnout continued in the evening for a lecture given by Curator, Ian Tait and Archivist, Brian Smith.

Exhibitions of Museum artefacts and Archive documents are now on display until mid August, and there is a free treasure hunt sheet available from reception for bairns to find the gold in the galleries in celebration of the golden anniversary.

The public appraisal day will be held this saturday (2nd July) from 11.00am to 2.00pm.
